Alright- here is the explanation behind this piece. I love drawing images, having people interact showing some type of relationship. I am all about putting feelings behind my artwork (as we all are right?) (that's a given) In this piece I wanted to show that the X-men, no matter how bad-ass they are, are a family no matter what they face. As you see here Wolverine and Storm are sharing a bond. Storm's expression is showing her relieved to see an old friend as she reaches up to him with the look of "yeah, I'm all right" Wolverine always the comforting rough-and-tough, mofo reaches out to his sister-like friend. In the background Colossus is holding Shadowcat. For those who aren't familiar with these characters; Colossus dated Shadowcat. I have him in his flesh form on purpose to show his tender side. She is so fatigued from the battle, with the Sentinel, she has to slump over. Her dragon Lockheed is mourning over her. Lockheed and Shadowcat share their love like a pet and owner. Lockheed touches her hair feeling sorrow. I eventually want to include Nightcrawler in this one to show the religious aspect of it. I'll have him kneeling down away from the rest of the X-men. He'll be holding a cross tightly, between his hands while saying a prayer.

Hope y'all digs!

MY God...That sooooooo Awfully looks like a clip from X3: the Last Stand I just saw on the net... A scene with storm and Logan besides a burned out, crashed car in a battlefield. Suddenly a Sentinel arrives and Wolvy asks Collossus to throw him on the Sentinel and cuts its head-off....

Anyway...what a coincidence considering you did this peice a while ago...wow.

Anyway, great piece by the way, Always a pleasure to see.

And the coloring just changes the entire piece. I think that you've definitely succeeded (one "c" or two in that word? oh well) with defining the character elements of the piece. The characters all have this sense of hope due to the bright colors that lay upon them.

The mood of the piece is spectacular. Especially with the darks of the surrounding background pulling your eye towards the characters. Daddy Sentinel included. You definitely know how to use color to hone your composition to the best possible fix.

Maybe a billow of smoke or dust or ash some where in the negative space on the upper left? How big is this piece? I feel that the characters somewhat get lost in it due to their size. You want us to focus on the X-Men, and unfortunately with the giant downed Sentinel hogging most of the canvas, we tend to focus upon him.

Does that help?

Man...Peter sure didn't wear much back then...I always REALLY loved this costume for storm and (of course) I love how you've rendered these characters in your inimitable style.

Just as an aside: I've actually held Giant Size X-Men #1 in my own hands. It was a religious experience for me as I love Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus and (although it took me a while) Wolverine.
