My ex-girlfriend has been hounding me down to design a logo for her buisness card. She is a dance major, in a community college, and teaches dance too. 15 hour days of drawing for my 4 jobs and personal projects wasn't enough for her, so she insisted I do this. We're still friends, and after dating her for 5 years I felt obligated to finish it, since I never really drew her anything. Well I did, but she hated it, and now it's a different story for some reason.
LOL WHEN I SOW THE MESSAGE OF DEVIANTION.. ithought : " HEHE another great peace of cheecks... ohhh those lines .. those colors.. let me check it.."
when i sow" WHAT?!?!?!?!?!: lol so simple. still .. a great peace of art.. but.. :S"
It's not iconic enough. It looks like an ink blot. The rounded 'limbs' look anything BUT graceful. To be honest, the first thing I though when I saw this was A Karate Kick.
I do like what you tried to do here, tho. Once you look at it for a bit, the LEAPING part does come across... but not immediately. The curves are the best thing... the do convey the motion of leaping...
Perhaps had you made pointier tapered limbs, simplify the form and make it more like a sail. Eliminate the background arm. It really complicates the image.
Finally, was black the only color alternative? It'd really kinda heavy. If the image can be in a different, more feminine color, I think it would convey the overall idea better.
Of course, it seems to me that since she couldn't wait for your work load to lighten up, I guess she got what she paid for.

When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.
how bout creating a "cut" on the arm farthest from the viewer? Thus, making it more distinct as an arm...

I tried applying as a Sherpa, but they declined. They say I delay the climb by building snowmans and chasing around Mountain Goats when I feel the jiggy... -English-speaking Super Sherpa
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
