Description

Professor Chang blasts Beast Boy with his new G.A.R.T.H. Gun and transforms him into…Garthzilla! When the giant green monster starts trashing the city, the Titans have no choice but to bust out their secret weapon…the Titans Go-Bot 5!

I was allowed more creative freedom on this cover. I designed the Godzilla-like creature in the background. At first I didn't have a complete "feel" of a transformation, but I turne to my good buddy Ryan Odawgawa, and he suggested to show multiple Beast Boys inbetween the "Garthzilla", and Beast Boy! Thanx, Ryan!

Today, I went to Borders to tighten my pencils for cover #22. In that issue it'll be my debut for the 10 page interior that I am doing the full art on, and the second story is done by the very talented Khary Randolph, which he is doing the full artwork on his 10 pager too. You all are in for a treat.

Hope ya'll digs!

Figuratively, this is a breath of fresh air after so many years since the original "Teen Titans" was canceled! After the show ended with Beast Boy accepting a painful reality about change, it left a hole (and a cliff-hanger) in our hearts, even after the movie "Trouble in Tokyo". Yet, seeing this brings a certain nostalgic relief, a sense of Beast Boy epically coming to terms with Terra's choice. It shows he's is metaphorically growing up and changing once again. I may only be drawing conclusions based on how I feel about this cover, yet it still makes it feel cathartic and therapeutic for a veteran fan of the one and only "Teen Titans".
